At a roundtable discussion with female executives from the United States and Canada, President Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced a task force focused on women in the workforce, formally called the Canada-United States Council for Advancement of Women Entrepreneurs.

Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump was in attendance at the meeting and helped recruit participants and set the agenda.

Trudeau, whose Cabinet is 50 percent women, stressed that women have had to overcome barriers to succeed in business.

President Trump thanked his daughter for her involvement and said that, “in order to create economic growth and lots of very good, well-paying jobs, we must ensure that our economy is a place where women can work and thrive.”

In a joint press conference after the meetings, the president and prime minister spoke of the trade relationship between the two countries and emphasized their shared goals.
